Rocket Shot Down in Semi-Final
by Kirstin Pires

A fuming Roger Griffis made his exit from the Camel Pro 8-Ball tournament at third place after a frustrating loss to crowd favorite Efren Reyes, 7-6.

Griffis jumped ahead, 3-0, early on, but disaster struck in the fourth game. "I broke the balls and made two stripes, and the balls came around and hit the cue ball and I scratched in the side," said a fuming Griffis. "I didn't make another ball on the break."

Reyes, who will now advance to the final against Mika Immonen, took the opening and went to work, drawing close at 2-3 before allowing Griffis another game. Griffis managed to stay ahead until the 10th game when Reyes tied the score up and then went ahead as agitated Griffis was relegated to his chair to watch the Magician take the match 7-5.

Reyes defeated Troy Frank 7-3 to advance, while Griffis lost to Immonen, 7-5, to get to the semi-final. Griffis exits with a $10,000 check, while Reyes and Immonen will take $30,000 for first or $20,000 for second.
