Bustamante Eliminated In World Championship

The first day of knockout action
featured a huge shock as Dutch shooter Niels Feyen fought back
from a 5-0 deficit to eliminate Filipino sensation Francisco
Bustamante, 9-6, at the Victor Chandler World Pool Championship in
Cardiff, Wales.
Feyen, an unheralded 23-year-old from The Hague,
thrilled the orange-clad Dutch contingent, many of whom had
expected to see the Netherland's top star, Alex Lely cause such
commotion. Instead, it was Feyen carrying Holland's hopes, as Lely
failed to advance last the group qualifying stage. Bustamante, the
top seed and losing semifinalist in 1999, limped into the knockout
stage as the No.29 seed, having won only three of his five group
matches.
