After his win over Buddy Hall, Jose Parica commented on the fine that was levied upon him by the Camel Pro Billiards Series Advisory Committee. "I think it is good that Camel has a fine system," said Parica. "Because I hope it prevents players from doing anything like that ever again."
Parica was fined $200 for responding to Earl Strickland's alleged threats after Parica eliminated Strickland from the Denver Open, 9-3.
For initiating the confrontation, Strickland was fined $300 and was forced to forfeit the 35 points he earned at the Denver Open.
"This game is supposed to respectable," continued Parica, "but some of these guys act like they don't care about their mothers."
Strickland has been unavailable for comment and was reported to have left Denver, which means that he will miss the Camel awards banquet where the bonus money will be awarded.

Fresh off his $50,000 win over Buddy Hall in the semifinal match of the Camel Pro Billiards Series Denver Open, Jose Parica suffered from an unsurprising letdown as Rodolfo Luat easily defeated him 9-2 in the one-loss bracket final.
Before the match began, Parica commented that he since he won the Camel points race, his mind may not have been in the next game. Apparently, Parica knew of what he spoke. In the second game of his match with Luat, Parica had a straight-in on the 10 to tie the match, but miscued, giving Luat the easy win.
"He told me that after that 10 ball that the whole match changed for him," said Luat. Although Parica may not have had his head in the game, it would have been tough for him to beat Luat at full speed. Luat glided around the table, taking full advantage of his tremendous break and fortunate 10 ball positioning. Three times Luat won games on combinations, including the match-winning 8-10.
Luat now advances to the final against Francisco Bustamante, who defeated him in the noon semifinal. While neither Bustamante nor Luat felt the rematch was any significance, both players know that they'll be a lot more relaxed compared to the previous match. "The last game it felt like everything was stopped up," said Luat. "But I think it'll be a good match."
"We're not nervous," said Bustamante. "We're friends, and we're both in the money so there's no problem."
The winner will receive $18,000 for first while the runner-up will pick up $9,000.
