For years, people have accused Francisco Bustamante of being all flash with not enough substance. Today at the Denver Merchandise Mart, Bustamante backed up his flash and beat Rodolfo Luat 9-8 to win the Camel Pro Billiards Series Denver Open.
In the 16th game, Bustamante needed to kick the cue ball two rails just to hit the 1 ball to avoid a foul. Instead, he sank it, ran out and broke for the match.
After sinking the 1, Bustamante shot a straight-in on the 2 into the side, yet followed the cueball down the rail with enough juice to drop the 10 into the corner for the win.
"I'd like to thank my sponsors in Germany, and especially Jose Puya in the Philippines," said a smiling Bustamante to an appreciative crowd.
Luat played well but Bustamante was able to get of jail more often and run the table.
