Archer considers his options in a highly strategic game against Jimmy Wetch.

If the Francisco Bustamante/Mike Coltrain match was a lesson in easy victory, the Johnny Archer/Jimmy
Wetch match showed how important strategy and finesse are to the game.
Though Archer beat Wetch 7-5, his win was by no means an easy one. Both men exhibited dazzling safety play
and strategy, and for much of the match they traded games.
However, in the 11th game, Archer jumped ahead and ran the next two racks. Archer reserved his spot in the
final, and Wetch now faces Bustamante in the 2 p.m. semi-final.

Return of the Moth
Maybe Earl Strickland cursed the match. The moth that Strickland complained about two days ago
showed itself again today in the Archer/Wetch match, first plaguing Archer early in the match.
Archer called tournament director Scott Smith to help contain the bothersome bug, drawing laughter from the
crowd as both men swatted at the moth.
It seemed to have disappeared, but later in the tournament it returned to bother Wetch as he attempted to
shoot. Smith was called again, but this time the mission was completed and the moth was killed. This drew
some of the loudest applause of the tournament so far.
