As the WPBA Connelly Players Championship kicks off today amidst exhibitors, players and dealers visiting the Super Billiards Expo, Loree Jon Jones became the first player to advance to the second round of winner's bracket play with a 9-2 drubbing of Tiffany Nelson.

Jones finished off her win with a 9-on-the-snap knockout punch, but the biggest news of the day from ger came after she left the table. According to Jones, she has reportedly signed as a player representative for Cuetec, which is distributed by J-S Sales.

When asked if the security of the sponsorship would elevate her game in the future (Jones failed to win a Classic Tour title in 1997), Jones replied candidly: "If you can't win for yourself out here, then it's almost impossible to win for a sponsor. I'm out here to win for myself."

Judging by her play this afternoon, Jones likes her chances her at the Valley Forge Convention Center. "I feel really good right now," said a smiling Jones. Jones takes on the winner of the Holly Sholes/Vivian Villarreal match at 9 p.m.
