| IMMONEN, WILLIAMS KICK OFF ROUND OF 32 WITH WINS by Mike Mazek Jul 19, 2001, 12:22 PM EST Mika Immonen and Charlie Williams were among the first two players to reach the Round of 16, following wins on Thursday morning. Immonen, who ran six straight racks against Cory Deuel on Wednesday, rolled to a 9-1 win against Tony Drago of Malta. Drago ousted Turning Stone Casino Classic II champion Francisco Bustamante on Wednesday.
Tournament Notes American Earl Strickland has fallen out of favor among U.K. bettors. The five-time Player of the Year came into the event as the gambling favorite, but a tight 9-8 win over Ramil Gallego on Wednesday night unsettled many bettors. On Thursday morning, Efren Reyes became the 7-2 gambling favorite, followed by Strickland at 5-1.
