WOMEN'S SEASON FINALE UNDERWAY by Dec 6, 2001, 11:43 AM EST
 | Once and Again World Champion Fisher defends her Nationals title this weekend. |
The Women's Professional Billiard Association's National Championship is underway at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
With a field of 64 - up from the usual 48 for Classic Tour events - the path to the final will be a little longer than usual, but it's likely that the ESPN-taped matches on Sunday will feature familiar faces. Top-ranked Karen Corr has swept the Classic Tour season with five championships; while Allison Fisher, who has won the last three "Nationals" is coming off big wins in Asia, including the World Pool-Billiard Association's World 9-Ball title. Also figuring into the mix is Jeanette Lee, who won the BCA 9-Ball title and the World Games gold medal this year.
Onsite coverage of the event will begin Saturday.
