Finals Set
May 19, 2001 2:32 PM EST
"There's no room for having no confidence," said a disappointed Allison Fisher after a semi-final ,7-4, loss to Jeanette Lee Friday evening at the
Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Fisher, who has struggled with distractions off the table through the early part of the season, nevertheless
seems rededicated to holding on to her No. 1 ranking. "I quit the board [of
the Women's Professional Billiard Association, of which she was president],
got my head back into the game," she said. "I went through one of those periods, but now I'm motivated."
While Fisher will take another third place back to Charlotte, N.C., Karen
Corr, who threatens to overtake Fisher in the rankings, and Jeanette Lee will
battle for first place today at 1:00 p.m. local time. At 3:00, the men's
final in the $180,000 Billiard Congress of America PRO 9-BALL Open will pit
veteran Jose Parica against young upstart Cory Deuel. Deuel defeated Kim Davenport, 7-3 in semi-final action Friday as Davenport was unable to adjust
his power game to the finesse game required on the slick newly-clothed tables.
