Top-seeded Allison Fisher reached the semi-final of the winner's bracket at the 2000 Women's Professional Billiard Association National Championship late Saturday afternoon with a 9-4 victory over Dawn Hopkins. Fisher, the defending champion, was joined in the winner's bracket final four by Gerda Hofstatter, second-seeded Karen Corr, and 10th-seeded Jeanette Lee. Hofstatter defeated third seed Vivan Villarreal, 9-4, while Corr thrashed Ewa aurance, 9-5, and Lee stopped Helena Thornfeldt, 9-6. The winner's bracket in the 64-player, $75,000 national championship will work its way to the final two later Saturday night at the Soaring Eagle Resort & Casino in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. The final three matches, taped for future airing on ESPN, will take place Sunday afternoon.
