Robles Rides Hot Streak
Jul 2, 2008, 6:30 PM

Just days after Tony Robles won his debut on the IPT's Ultimate 8-Ball Challenge match, he continued his incredibly hot run. The Silent Assassin won his third consecutive Predator 9-Ball Tour event — this time at Park Slope Billiards in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Robles began his path to the Predator trifecta with a 9-2 win over Bo Ra Jeong, 9-2, then barely escaped a hill-hill match against Marc Vidal, 9-8. From there, Robles topped Holden Chin, 9-7; Joey Kong, 9-2; and Steve Lillis, 9-7.

In the hot-seat match, Robles faced Eddie Abraham, who has won one event on the Predator tour. Abraham topped Turning Stone runner-up Jeremy Sossei, 9-7, in the opening round. He then strung four straight matches without allowing an opponent past three games.

In the winners-side final, Robles controlled the tough match from the start, eventually pulling away from a 9-6 win.

On the left, Vidal caught fire, winning seven straight to earn a spot in the left-side final. Abraham, however, bounced back from his loss with a 9-6 victory.

The Abraham-Robles rematch was nip-and-tuck from the start. Both players traded racks, winning six a piece. Robles then caught fire and collected the next five racks for an 11-6 win.

Next up for the Predator Tour, the first ever women’s event, scheduled to be held July 19-20 at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, N.J. This special event is open to all ladies and is recognized by the WPBA.
