Since arriving from the Philippines in February, Iris Ranola has become one of the most respected players on the Northeast regional circuit. She has collected a number qualifiers from various tours.

Her dominance continued at the Predator 9-Ball Tour's first Women's Open — held July 19-20 at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, N.J. Ranola rolled through the winners side of the bracket, taking a spot in the hot-seat with a 7-3 victory over Caroline Pao.

Meanwhile, Liz Ford, who dropped an earlier match to Pao, was making some noise in the one-loss bracket. She topped Emily Duddy in the left-side semifinal, then dominated her second matchup with Pao, 7-1.

As the event stretched into the late hours, both Ford and Ranola agreed to split the title.
