Enjoypool.com 9-Ball Championships Approach Semifinals in Vegas
May 14, 2007, 10:50 AM

Jose Parica's run in the Enjoypool.com 9-Ball Championship started out pretty easy, relatively speaking. An opening round 11-9 victory over Allen Hopkins is his only victory to date that didn't go hill-hill. Parica then posted 11-10 wins over Corey Deuel, Fabio Petroni and Mika Immonen.

The tournament, in progress at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas through May 19, has been widdled down to four unbeaten players from an original field of 64. Orcollo sent Francisco Bustamante to the left with an 11-7 win, setting up a date with Parica for a spot in the hot-seat match.

On the other side of the bracket, Shane Van Boening posted wins over 17-year-old John Morra and Charlie Williams. Mike Davis has been equally impressive, and the two will face off in the winner's bracket semifinal.

Johnny Archer and Steve Moore are making strong runs through the left side after losing in the first round.

The women's Enjoypool.com 9-Ball Championship bracket is full of familiar names as play edges towards the semifinal round though one name is missing. Kelly Fisher did not participate in this event. Winner of the WPBA San Diego Classic last month, Fisher is attending to family matters in the United Kingdom.

Defending champion Jasmin Ouschan posted the most impressive victory in the winner's bracket, dominating Xiaoting Pan, 9-3. Ouschan will face Karen Corr in the winner's semifinal. Top-ranked Allison Fisher has cruised through the other side of the bracket, never letting an opponent past four. She will meet Monica Webb to determine the other half of the winner's final.
