BD Mourns Loss of Mark Whiteside

Mark Whiteside, 54, longtime pool enthusiast and regular contributor to Billiards Digest, passed away on April 17 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisc. Diagnosed with Hepatitis C, he was preparing for liver and kidney transplants at the time of his death. He is survived by wife Carol Ann and children Jessica, Robert and Aaron.

Whiteside edited Amateur Billiard News and went on to become the first editor of Inside Pool magazine, which debuted in December 2001. After leaving the magazine in 2003, he covered major pro events for BD and azbilliards.com. Despite his failing health, he was anxious in late March to cover the Super Billiards Expo for BD. Our coverage in the June issue will include some of his work.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m., April 24th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Etna, Pa.
