Players Get Set for BCA Events
Jun 6, 2008, 5:34 PM

As some of the top men and women pool players descend on Charlotte, N.C., for the GenerationPool.com 9-Ball Championships, the local community is apparently taking notice.

Allison Fisher, the top ranked player on the WPBA Classic Tour, will appear on the "Fox Got Game" show Saturday, June 7, at 10:30 p.m. (EST).

Jeanette Lee, long one of the most reconized personalities in the game, will appear on two news broadcasts on Sunday evening. The Black Widow will be interviewed during the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. news programs.

The GenerationPool.com Championships are hosted by the BCA alongside the trade organization's yearly International Billiard & Home Recreation Expo — held at the Charlotte Convention Center from June 12-14.

The men's event will get started on Sunday, June 8, in the Grand Ballroom in the convention center. The tournament is a 32-player invitational — a slight departure from previous tournaments that had a field of 64.

The women's event, however, will still have 64 players, to meet WPBA standards. Opening-round play begins Friday night at the Smokin' Cue in Charlotte. By Sunday, the 32 remaining players will play alongside the men in the convention center.

Tickets for the final matches, scheduled for June 12, have sold out. Between the women's and men's final, Allen Hopkins and Pat Fleming will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
