Dates Set for World Cup of Pool

Matchroom Sport has nailed down dates for the 2008 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool. The 32-team competition will be held Oct. 7-12 at the Outland night club in Rotterdam, Holland.

This is the same setting where surprise finalists Li He-wen and Fu Jian-bo of China knocked off a powerful Finnish duo of Markus Juva and Mika Immonen in a thrilling hill-hill final.

At this year's tournament, each match will be filmed for television, and Matchroom Sport will produce 31 one-hour programs, which will be shown on stations worldwide.

Eleven of the 32 teams will come from Asia — headlined by squads from China, the Philippines and Taiwan. Europe leads the pack with 17 teams, while North America will be represented by the United States and Canada.
