Pop Quiz
If you’ve been practicing your drills from Quick Hits religiously, you shouldn’t have a problem with this little test of your position-play acumen. The shot is easy; it’s all about where you can place the cue ball afterward. Try to hit the marked positions (A through I) by using various amounts of high and low English, left and right English, and stun (i.e., a center-ball hit). And, obviously, your speed on each shot will be just as important for hitting the targets. We can’t begin to tell you how important it is to master this drill. Without cue-ball control — that comes with mastery of spin and speed — you simply aren’t going to be able to ascend as a player. [Nick Varner]
