Try finding an instructor who can argue with the adage about limiting the cue ballís movement when planning for position. No matter how important that lesson may be, you canít avoid a cross-table path. And for that situation, hereís a drill to work on long-range position.

Set up the four balls as shown in the diagram. Taking ball in hand on the 6 ball, try to run the balls in order. Youíll be forced to cross both table axes, just in case youíre forced to send the cue ball from one end to the other.
