Draw-shot Progressive Drill
This old chestnut from BD instructor Bob Jewett will help you develop a feel for a wide range of draw shots. It’s also helpful for determining if your stroke is fluid and straight. The object ball is near the long rail, just out of the pocket’s jaws. Start with the cue ball in position 1, one diamond from the corner. The goal is to draw the cue ball back to the same position. Each time you get enough draw, move the cue ball back to the next position (2, 3 , 4 etc.) and repeat. When you miss either the shot or the draw, the cue ball goes back to the previous position. This is a “progressive” drill, meaning it automatically adjusts difficulty to match your improvement.
