VIDEO: Pool Fundamentals

December: Your Time
December 2011
Q. I am the father of a 4-year-old and a 7-month-old. I've recently refocused on pool, and started traveling to play in amateur events. I struggle being a business owner, family man and serious player. I usually just sleep less. How do you balance your life and still play great pool?
Eric; Burlington, Vt.

A. I really don't know what to tell you. Being self-employed, I get to control my own hours, but it tends to get away from me too easily. I look at my highest priorities in my life and I allot time to each priority per day. Just put all your responsibilities into the schedule. It's tough - and sometimes, we're just too tired. Guess what? Too bad. If you wanna be great, you have to utilize your time to the utmost. This means getting up earlier, watching less TV, having less random conversations over the phone ... at least this is what I tell myself. I don't want to sacrifice being a good mom, wife, Christian or champion pool player, so I have to be more efficient with my time. That's all I can keep looking at to keep balance. By the way, proper rest is super-important; it just can't be confused with laziness.
