March: Memories
March 2013
Q: Of all the tournaments you’ve won, what one title are you proudest of? What makes it so special to you?
Craig M.; Billings, Mont.

A: I’m proudest of winning the gold medal at the 2001 World Games. It was the first time billiards was included as sport for a medal and I was the top U.S. representative. With so many Europeans and Asians winning our WPBA events, it was awesome to win such a prestigious title on an international platform. There were athletes there from all different countries and all different sports, so it was a great experience from start to finish. Of course, considering how competitive professional pool can be, I’m proud of all my victories. Being able to look back on specific moments in my career, I can really see how my preparation and hard work paid off. At the same time, even when I might have come up short of winning, I can appreciate what I did to get to that point — while also using it as motivation to do better the next time out. But it’s always a good idea to remember the good times every once in awhile — and winning that gold medal will forever be a highlight!
