VIDEO: Pool Fundamentals

February: Reyes or Sigel
February 2017

Q: Efren Reyes or Mike Sigel?

Tony LaBanca, Tampa, Fla

A: Mike Sigel was an amazing player. He was certainly deserving of being elected into the Hall of Fame, and he was one of the best American players of all time. He was solid and impressive. What struck me about Efren, though, is that he was the only player that made other champions’ jaws drop. His creativity and confidence through his choices during real game pressure situations was something I doubt we’ll ever see again. In my opinion, he was the best player of all time if you consider that he plays at a world class caliber at all pocket and carom games. He was never one to have a thunderous power break shot in pro 9-ball, but nevertheless he was still the greatest. He could do anything on a pool table and was perfectly fine with grabbing a house cue off the wall. Most pros, myself included, would prefer to have our skin peeled off with a steel brush than to have to shoot with a house cue!
