VIDEO: Pool Fundamentals

August: Is It Worth It?
August 2016

Q: Youíve done a lot of corporate appearances and exhibitions for the military. What is it like showing off for people who are not hardcore pool nuts? Do they appreciate just how good you are and how difficult pool is to play? Whatís the most common question they ask?

Patti Wright, Louisville, Ky.

A: Incredibly, this is my 21st year entertaining the troops overseas. They are easily the most rewarding tours I perform. Not only do they appreciate what I do, but Iím humbled by their contribution to our great country. I am honored to bring them a bit of one of Americaís favorite sports. And I like breaking balls while I do it! Ha!

Q: Iím 19 and have been playing for three years. Itís my dream to go pro. Is it worth it?

John Nicholson, Tempe, Ariz.

A: As I tell all aspiring pros, itís great to have a goal, but you need to be sure thatís what you want. It has to be because you love the sport. If you want to make millions, itís the wrong line of work. Do more research before you decide.
